1.Corners_Goal 4: Top Corners, Reposition White Corners As Needed

Updated: Dec 15, 2020

Now that you have again brought your Active Color to the top (First was Yellow, Second is White), as with Goal 2 of this Tutorial, you will look at the other two colors of these Corners, and see if the colors match on the other sides of the cube. (Just a reminder, we are still ignoring all pieces except for the four Corners you are currently working on.)

DEMONSTRATION:

SETUP:

Either they will all match to each other (congrats, you can skip to the next step), or none of them match (in which case it doesn't matter how you position your cube to proceed, but you will end up doing this step twice), or one of the sides match.

Keeping White still on the top with these four Corners, If one of the side colors match, position your cube so that the matching color is facing the back away from you. If none of the side colors match, after you have done this step one side will match.

PLACEMENT:

Do Formula B.

Now without rotating the cube, at first glance it appears you have undone your previous work. This is not the case.

Use Formula A (in multiples of 2) to bring White back up to the Top Face as before. Because all four of the White Corners are already on the Top Row of the Cube, you don't have to examine to see if they are where they can be acted upon. When White is on Top Face, as before slide the top until an incorrect piece is in the top-front-right position and continue with Formula A to bring the White Up.

RESET:

When all four Corners have White on top again, return to SETUP above, and reassess how the cubes relate to each other regarding matching sides.

Repeat this step as needed until the Top four Corners are correct in relation to each other, matching the side colors of the White Corners.

Rotate the Top Row as needed to align the Top Corners to match the Bottom Corners, and congratulations, your Corners are now correct! If you were working on a 2x2x2 Cube, you are finished now, and for all other cubes, the Corners you have just placed dictate what colors will eventually be on each cube side.

Scramble and solve again, until you are comfortable with both Formulas. This will make the next steps easier, because these two formula are literally all the ones you need to learn. You already know all you need to to solve them all.

When you are ready, continue.
